mireille miller young

Dr. Mireille Miller-Young returns to the show for a full hour talking about her award-winning book, A Taste for Brown Sugar, which boldly takes on representations of black women’s sexuality in the porn industry. It is based on Mireille Miller-Young’s extensive archival research and her interviews with dozens of women who have worked in the adult entertainment industry since the 1980s. The women share their thoughts about desire and eroticism, black women’s sexuality and representation, and ambition and the need to make ends meet. Miller-Young documents their interventions into the complicated history of black women’s sexuality, looking at individual choices, however small—a costume, a gesture, an improvised line—as small acts of resistance, of what she calls “illicit eroticism.”  Miller-Young wants the voices of black women sex workers heard, and the decisions they make, albeit often within material and industrial constraints, recognized as their own. Mireille and Tristan will be LIVE tonight, so call in and join the conversation! 866-472-5788

Marriage 2.0

This week’s episode of Sex Out Loud features Tristan Taormino interviewing Magnus Sullivan, the screenwriter and producer of the award-winning film Marriage 2.0: A Modern Love, starring India Summer, Ryan Driller, Christopher Ryan, Nina Hartley, Carol Queen, Mickey Mod, Reid Mihalko, Dylan Ryan, and more. “Marriage 2.0″ celebrates a modern redefinition of the committed relationship as a springboard for adventure, where unfettered physical and emotional intimacy can fuel passion while strengthening the bond with those we love. Sullivan will discuss his journey to making porn, what inspired Marriage 2.0, and what he hopes to bring to adult cinema during his career.

Tune in on April 10th at 8 pm ET / 5pm PT when this interview premieres on Sex Out Loud. The show will be available afterwards on iTunes or streaming anytime, on demand, at VoiceAmerica.

magnus-sullivan-300x300Magnus Sullivan (screenwriter/co-producer) is a Bay Area native whose interest in the dynamics of open marriages, their challenges, and their opportunities for growth, has now been the focus of two movies. His first film, “An Open Invitation,” remains one of the bestselling movies on the subject, and earned India Summer a 2012 AVN Award for Best Actress. “Marriage 2.0″ exponentially expands the scope of “Open Invitation” and makes the Bay Area itself a character. “San Francisco is at the center of a relationship revolution,” Sullivan says, “and we need to capture that.”

“I do not aim to make ‘women-centric porn’ because it’s trendy, I aim to make meaningful, erotic content because it’s important to everyone.”

Allison Vivas making peace with porn

This Friday on Sex Out Loud, I interview Allison Vivas, President of Pink Visual, two-time winner of XBIZ Award for adult industry Woman of the Year and recent recipient of Free Speech Coalition’s Leadership Award. Under Allison’s guidance, Pink Visual has established a strong reputation within the adult entertainment industry as an innovative, forward-thinking brand that focuses as much on developing excellent technology as it does on creating high quality adult entertainment. She recently published the book “Making Peace With Porn: Adult Entertainment and Your Guy“, which incorporates personal stories, clinical statistics, and the history of adult entertainment to explain why porn might not be such a bad thing after all.

After completing her degree at the University of Arizona in 2001, Allison Vivas joined a startup adult website affiliate program called TopBucks at the age of 21. Allison quickly rose to the position of Marketing Director, where she oversaw a wide range of the company’s activities in marketing, sales, event coordination, and project planning, across several product lines for both the adult entertainment and ‘mainstream’ markets. In 2004, the company launched
Pink Visual to bring together its Internet, broadcast and DVD distribution efforts under a single brand. Allison was named President of the company in 2006 and since then the company has played a major role with mobile distribution and anti-piracy efforts, most recently launching the Anti-Piracy Service: DMCA Force. She penned “Making Peace with Porn” in 2013 which combined research with her own personal growth around understanding porn as a woman.

Derrick copy Chris copy
This Friday on Sex Out Loud, listen to exclusive clips from Tristan Taormino’s Guide to Kinky Sex for Couples and meet two of the men featured in my newest sex ed movie. I’ll ask Christian about how men can explore their submissive fantasies, why he’s a controversial figure in the adult industry, and what the new porn economy means for performers. Then Derrick Pierce will join me for a discussion about being a thoughtful dominant, what excites him most about his job, and the new film he directed, Tuff Love.

Christian, also know as Christian XXX, is a male porn performer who has appeared in over 2000 scenes since he began work in the adult industry in 2003. He is the winner of four AVN Awards and he is the reigning 2013 Feminist Porn Heartthrob of the Year. He is a controversial figure because he’s done both gay and straight porn. His earliest work was in gay porn under the name Maxx Diesel (he was briefly a contract performer for Falcon Studios). He then began working in the straight porn industry under the name Christian, where, in addition to traditional heterosexual scenes, he does more diverse work than any of his peers including scenes featuring plus-sized co-stars, strap-on anal sex, transsexual women, male submission, and more. He has his own website aptly named ChristianDoesThemAll.com and he blogs at christiansingstheblues.com.

Derrick Pierce is an adult performer, martial arts expert, and a self-described “Crossfit junkie.” He’s appeared in over 100 adult feature films, including Iron Man XXX, Upload, Tristan Taormino’s Guide to Kinky Sex for Couples, and Tuff Love, which he directed for Wicked Pictures. He’s received numerous award nominations, and he won the 2010 AVN Award for Unsung Male Performer of the Year. Follow him on Twitter @DPiercexxx and check out the fan site derrickpiercexxxstar.com.

This Friday, December 7th on Sex Out Loud Radio, I talk with adult film director Nica Noelle for the final installment of my “Live in LA” series of interviews recorded in studio in Los Angeles. Nica will talk about how she first got into the industry and what led her to write and direct her own films. She’ll delve into what makes a great porn movie, which performers she loves to direct, and how she comes up with story lines. She’ll talk about her new studios Hard Candy and Girl Candy, her foray into gay male porn with Rock Candy, and TransRomantic, which features the first line of adult romance movies starring trans women. Tristan will ask her about fan feedback, her own fantasies, and why cheating is such a popular plot point in her movies. Join us for this fascinating look inside the mind of one of the adult industry’s most successful female directors.

Nica Noelle is one of the most prolific writer/directors working in adult films today. She has been credited with innovating a new approach to capturing sex on film and influencing a generation of adult filmmakers and performers. Ms. Noelle has created six successful studios in the last five years, and is currently working on her seventh with her business partner Executive Producer Jerry Anders of AEBN.net.
